The people of the Cayman Islands continue to rally for Derek Haines in support of his Six4Hospice campaign.
On 27 July 2014, Derek will take on race four of six. This race will round out his summer racing tour and is being held in San Francisco, California. To date, Derek has surpassed the half way point in his goal to reach the $1 Million dollar mark in order to build a new Hospice Care Facility in the Cayman Islands. All donations made are going directly toward building this new facility and the Cayman Community as a whole have come together and made great strides in contributing to ensure Derek reaches his goal!
An earlier Cayman community event was held, a 5K Challenge, “Running for the new Hospice”, coordinated by the Deputy Governor, the Hon. Franz Manderson. The challenge was sent out to all Civil Servants in the spirit of living a healthier lifestyle! This 5K encouraged all government staff to participate in helping Derek, a former policeman, reach this important goal. This 5K Challenge was very well attended by the Civil Servants with the Deputy Governor being an active participant. Well done Civil Servants!
