A Major Resort Begins to Take Shape

Dart Companies’ $200 million dollar Kimpton resort hotel on beautiful Seven Mile Beach is well underway and generating a significant amount of buzz in the Cayman Islands. Upwards of $62 million dollars has already been spent on the project and the construction effort is now completed on over half of this luxury hotel’s 10 towering stories. Over 250 workers are now on-site and this number is expected to balloon to over 800 as construction marches on through the year 2015.

This 263-room ocean front complex, when completed, will play host to 5 restaurants, 56 luxury grand residences, 6 beachfront bungalows and much much more. This is the boutique hotel chain’s first foray into the Caribbean region and, as expected, no expense has been spared on this colossal project. From a high-end spa to a lush sprawling seaside pool area –everything about this project is designed to be top notch and appeal to the world’s most seasoned travelers. The hotel will feature many indoor and outdoor multi-use function and conference spaces. The sumptuous Caribbean-themed landscaping that is planned will draw upon distinctly Caymanian influences to make this property aesthetically pleasing to guests and locals alike. Additionally, chef-driven restaurants and a passionate focus on customer service will give the Kimpton Cayman Islands a broad level of appeal. This will surely be evident when one enters the glass-walled lobby – and guests can expect the same type of individual style that accompanies each of the Kimpton’s signature boutique hotels at the Grand Cayman resort.

Things such as pet-friendly rooms, character and fierce independence will be the running themes for the new Seven Mile Beach location. Tentative goals have been set for a completion of construction some time around August 2016. After that the Kimpton staff will be on-site hiring, setting up and training staff and should be ready for a formal grand opening some time in early 2017. Lastly, the recent purchase of the Kimpton brand by the multinational Intercontinental Hotel Group will open up many unique marketing opportunities for the new property. It will also give the new property a strong international corporate backing and all the perks that go along with it. Locals, tourists and travelers alike are excited for this highly-anticipated project to come to fruition and it is expected to shift a great deal of energy to the northern end of the famous Seven Mile Beach.
